About these figures

A planner for one day out from Courmayeur. Most writing about these paths is aimed at walkers doing the whole Tour du Mont Blanc. This is for somebody staying in the village with a morning or a day free, who does not know the valley and will not read a bus timetable in Italian.

It holds eleven walks, three ways of getting to them, and six places to eat. Joining those three together is the only thing here a trail guide does not already do, so it is the thing the site leads with.

A figure is called checked when two organisations that do not copy each other publish it, and the number here sits inside what both of them say. Two pages of one website count once. Every walk page names its own publishers and links them, so the claim is one you can go and test rather than one this site asks you to believe.

That bar is about agreement, not precision. Published figures for one path routinely differ by a tenth on distance and ascent, because they measure from different car parks and count the ups and downs differently. Where sources spread, this site takes the cautious end. A walk is never shorter or flatter than it says it is.

It cannot check everything. Two sites can copy one another without saying so, and they can describe different walks under one name. Both of those have happened here and are written up on the walks they affected.

• 8 of the 11 walks clear the two-publisher bar. The rest carry one publisher or none, and each page says which it is. One publisher is worth more than none, and you can judge it yourself.
• Skyway Monte Bianco is not checked. The schedule and the fares come from the operator and nobody else, so nothing independent confirms them. The minutes between stations are this catalog's own, and allow for boarding and the change of car.
• 4 of the 6 huts have opening dates taken from a register’s usual window rather than from this year. A hut’s season moves, so the telephone number beside the dates is the answer, not the dates.
• Early summer buses. Arriva publishes a separate timetable for the first weeks of the season that could not be found. Nothing here states a departure for those weeks, and nothing should.

The walks, the timetables and the huts were read on 1 September 2026, and the walks that needed a second publisher again on 3 September 2026. The hut seasons were read on 4 September 2026. Every source under every walk carries its own date.

The bus timetables change every summer. Check them against the operator before you count on a departure, and tell me if they have moved.

A figure that sends somebody up the wrong path or to a bus that has gone is the worst thing this site can do, so a correction is worth more to it than a compliment.
