Skyway Monte Bianco

The cable car out of Entreves, which carries a walker from the valley floor to nearly 2,200 m in twenty minutes.

A drawn map of the Courmayeur valleys, not to scale. Courmayeur is in the middle, with the Mont Blanc massif along the top. The Skyway is the one ride here that is not free and the only one that gains a kilometre of height. It leaves from Pontal, in Entreves north of the village, and the middle station at Pavillon du Mont Frety puts a walker on the mountain itself rather than across the valley from it.

What it buys is height without the climb, which is why it is the answer for a short day, a hot day, or legs that have already had a week of this. The walking at the top is gentle, and the view is the one everything else here is looking at.
